Gecko Galz Retreat Creations

I had so much fun this weekend with the girls at the Gecko Galz Retreat in Texas!! I almost didn't make it out of the snow storm in Maryland, and my bag didn't show up until the middle of the night, but it was awesome!

Here are the projects I worked on:
Here is the tag I was working on for Heather's class. I finished it but forgot to take a picture. But I loved this pic with the watercolor spots that look like Lorax trees.

Cards made during Leanbe's fabric class.

This frame was for a class as well, though Barbara gave us each the Friendship one as a gift.

Here is the kit I paid for.

This was the Altoid Tin challenge that we were to be prepared for. I used the butterflies from the collage sheet given to us.

Here are my best Galz! Penny won a free retreat for 4 in Louisiana so next year we are doing this again!!

It was great to be in Texas again (when it isn't hot) and hang with friends!!

Here are some pictures I found on the Gecko Galz Pinterest Board from the Retreat:

Here are the winners of the Altoid Tin Challenge. My BFF Penny is the one in the middle.

Here is my BFF Barbara, with her crown as we did a crown fashion show.

I made mine in a few minutes so I could join in the fun!

Here is the whole gang from the retreat. Leanne, the owner of Gecko Galz, is front and center.

Here is Heather in her borrowed crown!!

I won one of the drawings, for the beautiful necklace! Love it!

It was a great weekend!

Happy Father's Day!

Here is a simple card I made from last month's new Gecko Galz Classic Cars Collage Sheet Set. I knew it was done, but after all the flowers, glitter, and ribbon I use, it feels so bare! But it is perfect for my classic old man! Love ya Dad!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Father's Day!

Patriotic Rays Card - Gecko Galz Sample

Another sample from Gecko Galz this month, a card using an image from the Little Miss Firecracker Collage Sheet Set. I saw a tutorial for a card using rays on Pinterest, HERE, and knew I needed to try it with my patriotic leftovers.

After putting on the rays, I added the glitter ribbon, felt star, sequins, vintage image, and sentiment. Very easy to make and useful for many themes.

I am linking this to the following challenges:

Gecko Galz Sample - So Sorry Card

Recently the Granny of my BFF passed away and I wanted to send a card. She was a special lady, I had spent time at her home when I was in high school with my friend. She reminded me so much of my own Grandma, who recently passed as well. I think part of me is still so sad and upset that this passing hit me hard. Especially since they both passed from Dementia.

More Mother's Day Love

Today my friend and fellow Gecko Galz Design Team member, Heather,  posted an awesome tutorial and a link to a free Mother's Day collage sheet that she created for Graphics Fairy. One of the images was already in my files to use since I had visited GF the night before, so it was perfect that Heather had created a coordinated set to use. Her sets are perfect because you get everything you need image-wise to make a beautiful project. Check out her Etsy store HERE.

So with her collage sheet, I was able to make a card and a bookmark, both for my mom this year. I will laminate the bookmark before I send it to her. You never know what bits of glue may be stuck on the front or back of it, so to protect the book, it would be best to seal it.

Mother's Day Card Supplies:

Cream Cardstock - Recollections
Ink - Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy & Black Soot
Background, Image, and words - Heather A. Hudson
Doily - stash
Yellow Crochet Lace - Michael's
Twine - stash
Glitter glue - Studio G
Pearls - Michael's

Love You Bookmark Supplies:

Background, Image of Girl, and Blank Label - Heather A. Hudson
Washi Tape - Scotch
Doily - stash
Sentiment - Stampin' Up
Ink - Brushed Corduroy and Black Soot
Pink Rick Rack - Wright's
Glitter Glue - Studio G

I will be entering the card into Heather's challenge on her blog My Artistic Adventures, as well as the Mother's Day Challenge on the Gecko Galz Papercrafting Challenge Facebook Group.

Easter Greetings Card

It has been a while since I have worked on my artwork. The move from Hawaii to Maryland via Michigan and Indiana for the holidays, was long and exhausting! We left the island on December 21st, and moved into our new home February 7th. And you know how much unpacking gets done with a 3 year old and 5 year old around?? So only essentials at first.

Now, while many boxes are still taped up, I have enough to play and re-enter my position on the Gecko Galz Design Team! They have been so understanding of my situation!

This card was made using a new March collage sheet, Little Chickadee. I watched Sesame Street the other day and they were learning about different birds, one being the chickadee. They even explained how they were named, mimicking their sound, chick-a-dee-dee-dee. I have had that in my head ever since! So when I saw this set, though it is of baby chickens, not chickadees, I had to use it! Too cute!

Time has been flying for us as we get ready to leave Hawaii for good. And even though it doesn't feel like Autumn here, I am in full Autumn crafting mode. So here is a little something I made last month for Gecko Galz, a Thanksgiving card with one of my favorite images.

Here are my samples for the new collage sets from Gecko Galz. I love the sets, lots of variety.

The first is a simple card, with a not so simple image. When I was browsing the card section at the store, several tulle covered cards caught my eye. Loads of Love

Lately I have been all shabby chic, all the time.  But I wanted to get back to basics, make a clean and simple Valentine card.  I pulled out my Loads of Love stamps from Stampin' Up, which I bought 2nd hand from a former consultant.  I have always wanted this set but it was down on my wish list so I never got to it.  I thought it would be great to bring this set back by using it in a more trendy way than before.

I used a white card, stamped the truck in black, stamped the hearts in red, stamped some extra hearts to cut out, used some glitter glue on one heart, then tied some twine around it.  Voila! I love the simplicity of this card.  I can't wait to play with this set some more, finding new ways to make it current.  Are there any old stamp sets you would like to revive?

Supplies:

White cardstock - stash
Black Ink - Distress Ink Black Soot
Red Ink - Distress Ink Fired Brick
Glitter Glue - Studio G
Black and White twine - from stash

Linking up to these challenges:

The Pink Elephant - Hearts TPE184
Paper Issues Fawning Over You
Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes
Brown Sugar Go Red/Hearts

Enjoy!

Smell the Roses Card

Here is my sample for Gecko Galz February Products. I was looking around online for inspiration and decided to use some of the shabby chic elements in this month's goodies. The colors were so soft and dreamy, and this image of the little girl... I loved how they all went together.

First, I printed the background paper on cardstock to the size of my card. I inked the edges of all my paper elements, the background paper, the BINGO card, the label, and the child. I applied glitter glue to the flowers and leaves to accent the darker colors. I also applied it to the roses on the label, the cut roses on the lace, and the roses the child is holding. Let dry.  Next, write or print your sentiment.  Add glitter glue to the edges and let dry.  Once dry, layer pieces onto card: background, BINGO card, label, pearls, girl (add pop dots for dimension and to get above the pearls). Add adhesive tape to bottom of card and adhere lace in a ruffle.  Add cut roses on top of lace with pop dots and some glue.  Add photo corners, sentiment, and butterflies.

Supplies:

Background from Gecko Galz Pocket Full of Poseys Paper Pack, Ring Around the Rosey
Bingo Card from Gecko Galz Bits & Pieces Collection
Label and Roses from Gecko Galz Vintage Labels Collection
Image of child from Gecko Galz Children's Hour Collection
Pearl Florish - Zva Creative
Butterflies - Bead
Photo Corners - Martha Stewart
Lace - from stash
Glitter Glue from Sulyn Industries and Stickles
Pen from Stampin' Up
Distress Ink Brushed Corderoy

I am linking this to the Lots of Layers #46 Challenge over at Sugar Creek Hollow. I love their blog, which a fellow Gecko Galz Design Team member introduced me to.  Thanks Heather!

I am also linking this to the Simon Says Challenge for Anything Goes.  Love when they are open like that!

Enjoy!
